How We’re Betting Our Health on Alternative Medicine

How We’re Betting Our Health on Alternative Medicine
Share on Social Media

Health, Hygiene and Sanitation have a very strong connection. Today, there are various reasons for diseases due to abuse of health and hygiene rules – be it personal or environmental. However, with the inventions of technology and advancement in science we can get rid of many prevalent diseases with the help of global sanitation. The scope of this paper is to analyze the present scenario in Health and Hygiene Science & Technology with respect to its achievement and future scope.

Digital Medical Imaging.

One of the biggest trends that we are seeing right now is the advent of digital medical imaging through various means that are allowing for more accurate diagnoses and more accurate treatment plans among patients. Nowadays, digital medical imaging allows physicians to diagnose their patients without having to go through multiple scans or tests that can be more invasive and at times less effective than modern scanning procedures. This has also allowed physicians to operate on their patients without having to perform open surgery as they can do a procedure laparoscopically with the help of screens which allow them to see inside the body using cameras and other innovative tools such as robotic surgery equipment.

The Internet Of Things (IoT).

Another trend that we are seeing is the increased use of IoT devices within homes, businesses, and even within hospitals. Hospitals across the country are adopting IoT devices

Genomics and Personalized Medicine:

The future of medicine is personalized. With the rise of genetic testing, it is now more economical than ever to test the unique properties of a patient’s DNA. The Human Genome Project has been ongoing since 1990 and has yielded massive results regarding how human DNA works over the last two decades.

There are now companies like 23andMe that offer consumers a genetic test for $99 that can provide insights into your ancestry, wellness, traits, and carrier status. There are also a range of genetic tests for serious diseases like cancer that can help patients find out if they are at risk for developing certain maladies down the line.

Wearable Health Devices

In the health and hygiene industry, wearable devices are currently one of the most trending technologies that help people monitor their health conditions. With these devices, you can track your blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugar level and even analyze your sleep cycle. Such devices help doctors monitor patients remotely and diagnose them real-time. It also helps physicians to have a better insight into the patient’s condition. Wearable devices are also helping in detecting different diseases like cancer at an early stage. If you look at the latest statistics, then it has been found that there is a rise in the demand for wearable health devices by about 70% since 2018.

Biometric Prosthetics

The next trend in the health and hygiene industry is biometric prosthetics. These are nothing but artificial limbs that can be attached to a human body to replace an amputated body part. They are controlled by artificial intelligence (AI) through sensors that derive information about brain activity and send signals to the prosthetic limb accordingly. Biometric prosthetics can significantly improve hand functions and restore dexterity in people with disabilities or amputations. These prosthetics are fitted with electrodes that read electrical signals from nerves and muscles.

The last decade has brought about dramatic changes in the way we think about healthcare. From medical drones to remote surgery, it’s clear that technology is playing an increasingly important role in delivering care to patients.

Nowhere are these changes more evident than in the science and technology of health and hygiene. Here are some of the most exciting developments from the last ten years.

Medical Drones

One of the most ambitious recent applications of drone technology is its use for delivering medical care. In December 2016, for example, an American pharmaceutical company delivered its first package by air drone. The drone was launched from a roof on the University campus and then flew through a series of obstacles before landing on a neighboring roof. The flight was a success, paving the way for future deliveries.

Remote Surgery

In 2017, surgeons at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital conducted their first remote operation using a surgical robot called “The Da Vinci” to remove an ovary from a patient. This is just one example of how surgeons are using robots to treat patients at a distance.

In 2018, doctors at Stanford University Medical Center used Google Glass to train students in remote surgery procedures. Students were able to see real-time video of surgeries as they happened and ask questions as they watched live operations

3D Printing of Organs and Tissues:

3D printing is being used to create artificial tissues and organs. The 3D printed tissues and organs can be used for replacing damaged tissues in a human body. Instead of waiting for a donor, 3D printed artificial tissues and organs can be used to save lives.

Personal DNA Kits:

Personal DNA kits are helping people understand their body better. By using personal DNA kits, one can understand what genetic diseases they might suffer from in the future, their ancestry details etc. These kits are helping people improve their day-to-day lifestyle according to their genetic makeup.

Robotic Surgeries:

Medical surgeons are now using robots for performing surgeries on patients in hospitals. The use of robots is making complicated surgeries safer for patients as well as doctors. The robotic surgeries are more accurate than manual surgeries performed by surgeons on patients.

Gene Therapy:

Gene therapy is another medical breakthrough that is helping doctors cure diseases like HIV or cancer by using gene

Health and Hygiene Science & Technology is the most promising and fast evolving category of technology products in the world. The H and H science & technology sector has expanded from the traditional healthcare services to many new fields without losing its charm of being associated with medical technology.
